Mission

Our mission is to establish and grow a grassroots effort bringing together communities, organizations, businesses, and elected officials to support and create the Peachtree Creek Greenway along the North Fork of Peachtree Creek.

The Greenway, a linear park and multi-use trail, will enhance the environment, encourage economic opportunities, and promote healthy lifestyles for residents, workers, and visitors along the route.

How it got started...

January 2000: DeKalb’s Greenway Trails: A Master Plan for Multi-Use Trails in DeKalb County, Ga, is published by PATH Foundation through HOST funds. "North Fork Peachtree Creek Trail" is proposed. A 12.3 mile trail that connects Mercer University, the Doraville MARTA Station, Corporate Square, Executive Park, Northeast Plaza, and the Buford Highway Corridor. "This trail will tunnel commuters into Atlanta and DeKalb County employment centers."

2007: David R. Kauffman's book, Peachtree Creek: a Natural and Unnatural History of Atlanta's Watershed, is published and includes his canoe trip from Shallowford Road near I-85 to Piedmont Road near Lindbergh Road, a dangerous expedition due to construction debris, tires, hidden dangers.

July 2012: Referendum passes; Brookhaven becomes a city.

December 2012: Joe Gebbia elected as Councilman of District 4, the only Brookhaven District without any parks. He envisions a 3-mile path and linear park along the North Fork of Peachtree Creek. Betsy Eggers, a Brookhaven resident, concurrently envisions a bikable path along Peachtree Creek.

Summer 2013: Betsy Eggers talks to friends and neighbors about the potential of a linear park and soon discovers Dekalb's Greenway Trails Master Plan and the undeveloped plan for "North Fork Peachtree Creek Trail".

Fall 2013: North Fork Connectors, Inc. is formed as a 501(c)3 and the founding Board begin their work advocating for the development of the Peachtree Creek Greenway.

Fall 2015: North Fork Connectors, Inc. changes its name to Peachtree Creek Greenway, Inc. to reflect the name of the proposed linear park in Brookhaven and beyond.
