Peachtree Creek Greenway names Chris Hester as first Executive Director

This week Peachtree Creek Greenway, Inc. (PCGI) announces the hiring of Chris Hester as its first Executive Director. The organization has been solely volunteer-driven since its inception in 2013.

“With Chris Hester leading the charge of the Peachtree Creek Greenway, we’re launching our organization into a more sustainable future. One mile of the Greenway is already built, and each mile in each city requires much advocacy work to ensure the greenway’s completion. It’s very exciting!” said PCGI Founder Betsy Eggers.

Hester brings over 18 years of non-profit management experience to PCGI having served as the CFO/COO of several non-profit organizations in the Metro Atlanta area such as Quality Care for Children, Frazer Center, Georgia Legal Services, and CaringWorks. He has expertise in finance, budgeting, grant writing and management, cash management, HR, IT, and operations. He holds both a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting as well as a Master of Public Administration degree in Non-Profit Management from Georgia State University.

Hester has been a volunteer with PCGI for approximately 5 years, serving as the Team Lead for our DeKalb Action Team. He and nearby neighbors were the first to alert PCGI that it was possible to go under I-285 at I-85, locally known as “Spaghetti Junction”, connecting communities Inside the Perimeter (ITP) to those Outside the Perimeter (OTP). He is also very active in other volunteer work within the community and recognizes the Greenway work combines his “enthusiasm passion for the environment, recreation, and social justice.”

“I am very excited and honored to be chosen as the first Executive Director of PCGI. I feel that I have been on a trajectory to this position for many years and am passionate about the work that we do. I look forward to helping take us to the next level,” said Hester.
